MARSM Canada, Lula and Uma Nota present the Toronto debut of prominent independent Palestinian singer as part of the Lulaworld Festival.
Lina Makoul is an independent Palestinian pop singer-songwriter and one of the most prominent artists in Palesin over the last decade. Lina’s journey is inspiring and challenging which has led her to use art and music as a form of advocacy and resistance. Even when many are not able to use their voice for liberation. Lina has inspired hope through musical storytelling.
Lina is known for her wide vocal and musical range and multi-genre fusion, or as she likes to call it “Indie-pop in Arabic”. Lina writes, composes, directs, and produces her music videos independently in a place where is seen as a dangerous form of advocacy and resistance by the occupation. One of Lina’s main focuses is to grow alongside her fellow Palestinian creatives and artists in the music, film, and fashion scene. All of her videos are shot in Palestine by a fully Palestinian crew, all her outfits are designed by independent Palestinian designers showcasing the raw talent Palestine has to offer aiming to turn the Palestinian music scene into an industry.
Her career’s highlights include winning The Voice at 19 y/o, being Little Mix’s Glory Days Tour opening act across the UK, opening or 6lack in Abu Dhabi, Will Smith and DJ Jazzy Jeff in Blackpool and supporting the legendary rock band Queen+Adam Lambert.
Sweeping the audiences off their feet with a mesmerizing vocal and musical performance, she takes every person in the room on a musical journey as she shares the stories behind her lyrics on the piano and makes every single person want to dance and Dabkeh to her rap verses and catchy beats.
